Well my decorations were down and packed away on the 27th! I know some say you should leave them until twelfth night but once the big day is over I don’t see the point. It mystifies me that people put decorations up early November and do not take them down until sometime in January.
I felt so much better when everything was packed away, I crave order, and as we approach the New Year I like to de-clutter. I think it is essential at this time of year to cleanse the house, mind and body.
I take unwanted gifts, clothes that I have not worn for the year, and anything that is unused or unloved to a charity shop. I support CRY – Cardiac Risk in the Young – and they are always most appreciative when I arrive with my black bin bags bulging.
Although I celebrate on the 31stDecember I always follow my Feng Shui principals and look forward February and the new Chinese calendar. There are two Chinese calendars, a solar calendar and a lunar calendar, which can be quite confusing.
In China, the New Solar Year starts on 4th February 2010 at 06:42 China time. In the UK because of the time difference we celebrate early on 3rd February 2010 at 22:42. This to the Chinese is the first day of spring and it is time to cleanse, replace or re-position any cures or enhancements you may use.
The 14th February 2010 the Chinese celebrate their Lunar New Year this is the first day of the new animal year – the year of the Yang White Metal Tiger (Geng Yin). Traditionally this starts on the New Moon, last 15 days, and culminates on the Full Moon – the “Lantern Festival”.
I wish you all for 2010 a happy, healthy and peaceful year.
