Red 8 Feng Shui Blog – Charlotte Church

Charlotte Church has sadly split from her long term partner Gavin Henson.

Charlotte, coincidentally, has the same birth star as Sarah Duchess of York and Boyzone member Ronan Keating who have both been the news recently.

The 5 Star, unlike the other eight stars, has no family member or trigram, but its element is Earth. Some view the 5 Star as a combination of the 2 & 8 Earth Star.

5’s are said to be the most powerful of the nine numbers – people either like or dislike a 5 person, there is usually no in-between. Direct and determined, 5’s have a strong desire to be involved, to always be at the centre of things.

They are likely to want to take the lead in any situation and people will look to them for leadership. 5’s often make the same mistakes through life – repeating patterns.

5’s will have periods of stagnation where they could feel very low, self-doubt and insecurity could though lead to them being over confident and arrogant.

They are naturally charismatic and will attract attention. They are often deeply committed to one partner, yet, will still be prone to affairs.

The 5 Yellow is visiting the 2nd Palace until February 2011, this is the house of relationships. People all over the world may feel the effects of this disruptive star – relationships can be with partners, children, family, friends and your employer.

Red 8 Feng Shui Blog -Let The Sunshine In

Well it’s a typical Bank holiday, cold and overcast – it seems as if summer is never coming. The depressing thing is it is the first of June tomorrow and we will be just three weeks away from the longest day, the Summer Solstice.

Now whilst I love celebrating the Solstice (more on that later) the days then get shorter and we are back on our way to winter!!

The sun may be in short supply at the moment there are ways you can bring your own sunshine into your life.

  • Flowers – these will add not only colour and a burst of yang energy into your home or office but they are pleasant to look at, many are fragrant, and these days they don’t cost the earth. Just change the water every day and throw out when dead. Sunflowers are one of my favourite and they seem to last for ages.
  •  Open all your doors and windows – let the fresh air in even if it is a bit dull outside
  • Wear bright coloured clothes and ladies accessorise with vivid coloured jewellery – this will not only give you a lift but other people will notice you more.
  • Brighten up dull cold rooms with a splash of paint or some bright furnishings – cushions, throws or a new set of bed linen can make all the difference. Supermarkets have a great range and stores like Ikea enable you to make changes quite cheaply.
  • Check your lighting – down lighters (yin) are ideal for winter but you need more yang so go for up lighters (yang) or something bold across the summer months.
  • If you don’t have a garden consider window boxes, fill with bright flowers and also add a few herbs.
  • Hang spherical crystals in your window, any sunlight will bounce off them and create wonderful rainbow colours around your room.
  • Check your artwork. Don’t have winter scenes or dull and depressing pictures, go for vibrant prints, images of the sea or beautiful woodlands.

Red 8 Feng Shui Blog – Ronan Keating & Sarah, Duchess of York

It has not been a good week for Boyzone band member Ronan Keating or Sarah, Duchess of York. Both are currently in the media spotlight, and both incidentally share the same 5 Yellow Earth Birth Star.

Other famous 5’s – Guy Ritchie, Will Smit Lucy Liu and Elizabeth Taylor.

Red 8 Feng Shui Blog – Washing

Now the better weather is finally it is great to be able to hang washing out to dry – the only problem is lots of people leave it out over night. This is not good feng shui as the evening is a very yin time and your washing will pick these vibrations if left out. It is far better to hang your washing out early as the yang vibrations will increase as the morning progresses – just try and make sure that you bring it in before late afternoon.

Red 8 Feng Shui Blog – David Miliband

David Wright Miliband (15 July 1965) is the older brother of Ed Miliband and served as Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs under Gordon Brown.

The brothers were the first siblings to sit together in a Cabinet since 1938, and they have both declared that they will campaign to be the next leader of the Labour Party.

Birth Star8: The element for this number is Earth and the Trigram is Mountain – Strong & immovable. In the I Ching family David is classed as the youngest son – strong – willed, and who likes to discover everything for himself.  A good organizer, single minded and persistent. He will however  retreat into his ‘cave’ at times to think things through.

Inner Star 6 (emotional): This star is represented by the father, a figure of authority, one who is direct and down to earth.

Outer Star 7 (expressive): David will have the skill to make people feel at ease, charming with a good sense of humour.

David, being an 8 birth star is now in the middle of the ‘Magic Square’. He is at the start of a new 9 year cycle so is ‘as at birth’. We enter a new cycle when we are 18,27,36,45,54,63 etc, the first 18 years are not counted as they are the formative years of one’s life.

The decisions David makes this year will have an effect for the following 8 years, this is a time of rebirth, so he should take time to weigh up his options carefully.

Red 8 Feng Shui Blog – Clutter!

I did a talk on the basics of Feng Shui the other evening to a group of ladies.  The atmosphere was lovely and I had a most enjoyable time.

There was one lady (I will call her Jane) who lost her mother a couple of years back. She had cleared out her mother’s house and had kept all her furniture and clothes. She and the rest of the family now feel totally overwhelmed and have a constant feeling of hopelessness. They are now cluttered indoors and have no room to move because of all the possessions. The trouble is Jane ‘can’t let go’ of anything thing, she really does not want to part with any of Mum’s stuff. Now it could be that she is still grieving, or she feels guilt at letting go.

I could only give Jane advice and explain about clutter. At the end of the day unless anyone is willing to change then there is nothing I can do, the change has to come from ‘within’ and ‘intention’ has to go with it or it is a waste of time.

We all know it’s easier to create mess and clutter than keep things tidy, although I do know people who clear my cup away before I have finished the last dregs of my tea – It’s all about balance.

So, how about making a plan? Let’s de-clutter next weekend! You can either take ‘baby steps’ and throw a little out or go the whole hog and have a massive clean out. I personally favour a big clean out as I always feel so much satisfaction after, but it is up to you. If you are doing ‘baby steps’ just make sure you follow up and say de-clutter once a week. If you have family get them all involved, make a fun’ day of it with the promise of something special for dinner to reward everyone.

Here are the guidelines:

Donate or throw out anything that is……

  • Unloved
  • Unwanted
  • Unused
  • Not been worn for 12 months

You will be surprised at how much you will let go if you follow the rules. Pile everything up in one room, this will then give you some idea of how much is actually going rather than putting it directly into bags.

You can always take photographs of items, that way you will still have the memory but not the clutter.

A cluttered home is a drain on your energy and time. Think about how much more leisure time you will have once you have everything under control. It is easier to do a little ‘maintenance’ every week than feeling constantly overwhelmed and hopeless when you are surrounded with clutter.

My son has more T shirts than you can shake the proverbial stick at – many have not been worn for months…… so, I take them out of his wardrobe and place them in the spare room out of sight. If he has not asked for them within 3 months then I bag them up and take them to the Cardiac Risk in the Young charity shop – simple.

So come on join me next weekend, send me photos of what you are getting rid of and I will put them on my blog.

Remember, making space will encourage more wonderful things to come into your life.

Red 8 Feng Shui Blog – Quote for today

Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life.
Omar Khayyam

Red 8 Feng Shui Blog – Ed Miliband

Edward “Ed” Miliband (born 24 December 1969) served as Secretary of State for Energy and Climate under Gordon Brown.

He is the younger brother of MP David Miliband, they are the first siblings to sit in the Cabinet together since 1938, and have both declared that they will run to be elected the next leader of the Labour Party.

Birth Star4: The element for this number is Wood and the Trigram is Wind – anything from stillness to a hurricane. In the I Ching family Ed is classed as the Eldest Daughter – kind, thoughtful and a gentle nature. Independent and determined yet vulnerable underneath. Most changeable of all the nine numbers – can change mind, mood and direction in life. Ed’s nature will make him very good at planning and also resolving conflict.

Inner Star 7 (emotional): Captivating speaker, good at putting people at ease.  Possibly hides a deep sense of inner security.

Outer Star  2 (expressive): Detail minded to the point of fastidiousness. Reliable – will keep his word.

Ed is in a 1 phase at the moment – deep midwinter – a time of planning – this is not a period when things move forward. You would not normally take on a large project in midwinter, you would leave it until maybe spring so it may not be the most auspicious time to launch his campaign.

Red 8 Feng Shui Blog – Ed Balls

Edward Michael “Ed” Balls (born 25 February 1967) served as Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families under Gordon Brown’s leadership.

Birth Star 6: in the I Ching family this makes Ed the ‘Father’ figure. Well organised, straightforward and likes to be in control of everything in this life. He may not always be a ‘good’ listener and probably sees everything as black or white as many fathers do.

Inner Star 5 (emotional): Assertive, not afraid of confrontation, very determined.

Outer Star 5 (expressive): Can quickly take control of a situation, commanding presence, likes to be involved.

The father is a natural leader with a sense of duty and responsibility, so politics is a fabulous way for Ed to express himself.

Ed is in a 3 phase at the moment – early spring – a phase when seeds (ideas) start sprouting so it is an ideal  for him to start planning his future.
